Owari Satsuma Mandarins & Winter Produce

Sweet, Easy-to-Peel Satsuma Mandarins Are a Perfect, Healthy Snack

Steve’s Grandpa Emund Pilz planted hundreds of Owari Satsuma mandarin trees back in the late 1950s. In fact, we have one of the oldest mandarin orchards in Placer County! The majority of our trees are planted on our southern slope, giving them the perfect conditions for citrus production. We now have about 8 acres of delicious, sweet, seedless Owari Satsuma mandarins.

Satsuma mandarins are a fun fruit kids of all ages love to eat. They are small, sweet, seedless and really easy to peel, making them perfect for snacks.

Mandarins are also packed with vitamins. As an added benefit, Placer County mandarins have high concentrations of synephrine, a naturally occurring decongestant. A recent study by the USDA shows that 10 ounces of juice from Placer County Satsuma mandarins has as much synephrine as one over-the-counter decongestant pill. And mandarins taste much better. So if you feel the sniffles coming on or are plagued by allergies, try eating some of our mandarins!

It's Mandarin Season 2024! This year we have a bumper crop!!!

We are excited to again offer shipping and local pick-up of fruit on the farm and farmers markets.

The fruit is tasting really good right now.  We expect a soft opening on the farm November 22nd.  It is always best or order ahead to be sure we have fruit for you.  We do not pick wet fruit so some days we have limited availability.  Our plan is to be open Friday, Saturday and Sundays on the farm.

We’re a small, family owned and operated farm and still pick our fruit by hand just like Steve’s grandpa did almost 100 years ago. This insures you get only the ripest and freshest fruit available.

email lisapilz99@gmail.com with any questions or TEXT Steve at 916-872-5968

Or, find us at local farmers’ markets and other select locations. Visit our Where to Buy page for more information.

Navel Oranges will be ready in Late December/early January!
